Samuel is an emerging stage manager and production artist based in Brisbane. He has worked in stage management roles across Brisbane and Melbourne for theatrical plays; musicals; site-based works, cabaret and festivals/seasons. He has frequently worked in both devised and creative collaboration structures, as well as traditional theatrical structures.
Samuel has a passion for working on new Australian works, bringing new and unique stories to life on the stage. The journey of the production process is something that excites Samuel, as each little puzzle piece is put into place to create the overall artistic vision.
He also works as a child educator and is inspired by the creativity, imagination, curiosity, wonder and joy that inhabits the children he works with.
During this year, Samuel gained an interest in learning more about contracts and freelance business, and during his spare time, researched and developed a hypothetical Stage Managers Engagement Agreement. The Agreement outlined the roles and responsibilities of the Stage Manager and the School and had a particular focus on child protection and confidentiality. This allowed Samuel to learn more about contracting, budgeting, pay rates and invoices, as he begins to prepare to step into the live performance and entertainment industry.
